From Failures to Triumphs: Real-World Applications of Deep Learning and the OneDL Platform
Building AI applications is a journey filled with both failures and successes. In this keynote, I will share our experiences, from overcoming significant challenges to achieving remarkable successes. Additionally, I will introduce our innovative OneDL platform, designed to streamline and enhance the development and deployment of deep learning models.
View profile on LinkedIn
In this keynote, I will delve into the intricate journey of building real-world applications with deep learning, sharing valuable lessons from both failures and successes. One key project is our development of a 4-camera vision system for a cucumber plant leaf-cutting robot in greenhouses, a feat unimaginable five years ago. I will highlight the challenges we faced and the breakthroughs made possible by today's deep learning technology. Central to our success is the OneDL platform, an innovative solution designed to address the complexities of deploying deep learning models. This platform has revolutionized our approach, enabling more efficient and effective AI solutions. Attendees will gain insights into the practical aspects of AI development, from initial setbacks to groundbreaking achievements, and learn how the OneDL platform can be leveraged to navigate and streamline the AI development process. Join me as we explore the dynamic landscape of AI, equipped with lessons that can drive future innovations and successes in the field.

How does AI make live better?
There is magic in the air.
AI makes us more productive. AI makes us happier. AI makes live better. But we have heard this before. How do we make sure promises are fulfilled this time?

Abstract
In these times of exponential technology, we have to understand better what it means to be human, because only if we understand that we can create, implement and use technology that truly serves us.
In this presentation we will present novel ways to shift the way we think about our relationship with technology.

Machine learning for photonic wafer inspection
Nobleo developed a turnkey solution to localize defects on photonic wafers together with IMS and Settels Savenije. The machine should be able to inspect 4 inch wafers at micrometer resolution with a rate of 10 per hour.

Abstract
We explore Nobleo's turnkey solution for localizing defects on photonic wafers, developed in collaboration with IMS and Settels Savenije. The machine inspects 4-inch wafers at micrometer resolution, achieving a throughput of 10 wafers per hour. Key topics include the development of scanning microscope control software and defect inspection algorithms. We will cover an efficient workflow for image annotation using anomaly scores, the deployment of machine learning networks on Nvidia GPUs, and the use of Balena for software deployment. Additionally, we will discuss machine learning network topologies optimized for highthroughput applications, fiducial finding using neural networks for precise wafer alignment, and the annotation software supporting the defect inspection process.
